Public Lecture: Urban Land Tenure Security in Namibia: A Comparative Perspective

Presented as part of Global Trends in Land Administration, an open classroom, welcoming land sector professionals, researchers, and students, locally and globally. Land tenure, registration, and governance systems are evolving fast shaped by population growth, urbanisation and new technologies. About the speaker Dr Åse Christensen is a lecturer in land management and administration at Aalborg University in Copenhagen, Denmark. Before joining Aalborg University in 2022, she was a lecturer in Land Administration at Namibia University of Science and Technology for almost 10 years. Åse is a land management and governance professional whose research centres on land management and governance, land administration systems, and land tenure security in developing countries, with a particular focus on urban informal settlements in African countries. Åse studied Surveying, Planning and Land Management at Aalborg University in Denmark, specialising in Land Management. Her PhD focuses on urban land tenure security in Namibia and forms the basis for this lecture.
